OK, so I'm back on it...

So I'm re-doing the site as you can see. The video on the front page will change. Just trying to get it working HTML5-style now. There are so many devices, operating systems and browsers out there now. It's complex to serve things up correctly to all of them.

Speaking of which, if you notice anything odd in the display or if the front page video doesn't display/play correctly in your browser or device, let me know. I'm especially interested to hear how things are working in the Droid world.

Does Your Business Need a Blog?

Only if it intends to grow.

It is safe to say that most dog groomers have neither time nor inclination to blog. Same goes for real estate brokers, cardiologists, plumbers or just about any type of small business person. Someone who spends 70 hours a week (or more) running a business probably does not want to be bothered with blogging. What, exactly, would be the point in blogging, after all? It's not like anyone gets paid for it (world-renowned blogsters like Yours Truly aside), and time spent blogging is time spent away from the core business, right?

New FTC Blogging Rules Discriminatory?

Submitted by chuck1 on Thu, 2009-11-12 16:02

[Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. The following is just one un-educated opinion.]

new FTC rules on blogging

The FTC is doing the right thing, mostly.

Everyone who blogs has heard about the new FTC rules regarding endorsements and testimonials by now. I have been reading and digesting this for a couple of weeks. Overall, I would say that the new rules will have a positive impact on the blogosphere, perhaps weeding out some of the more deceptive sploggers. That said, I also think there are some unfair requirements.

How to Splog

Submitted by chuck1 on Tue, 2009-10-27 23:44

It's here! The ultimate splog

If you want to know how to splog, check out my new splog, dedicated to getting people to buy stuff.

If you're seriously looking for advice on how to build a blog for profit, here it is in three simple steps:

  1. The first thing you need to be able to do to splog successfully is find excellent products to promote. Cruddy products don't sell, and even when they do sell they generate lots of troublesome refund requests.

I currently have two e-books published and available from Amazon.com. Never mind the cheesy do-it-yourself cover art -- you need to read these.
